MIchael Unwin Tapas

TAPAS in more detail...

Michael Unwin chooses to make single vineyard varietal wines, which means the grapesused to produce each individual wine are grown and sourced from a single vineyard.

Therefore we don't always have a large quantity of one vintage. Michael Unwin Winesproduce quality wine over quantity. This also often results in more exclusive or unusualvarieties of wine that are not as well recognised by most people. So what we do; on the 3rd Sunday of the month is hold “Tapas” where we invite thepublic to an extended wine tasting of a selection of 6 of our highly acclaimed winesand match those wines with a delicious 6 course luncheon. Guests can try wine varietiesthey may have never tried, or heard of before, enjoy a long lunch and speak directlyto the wine maker. It's been described by one of our customers on Face-book as"the longest, best, most fun wine tasting they've ever been to" - and we hope that sums up
the experience for all our Tapas guests.Visiting Michael Unwin Wines 5 Star winery, is a great opportunity to stock up on the typesof wine you love and be guided through your purchases by experience staff and thewinemaker Michael Unwin himself. Our Tapas patrons enjoy a generous discount on the day, just for being our guest. You also have the opportunity to join our “Umbrella Club”and keep in touch with events and happenings at the winery.“Tapas” is a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon. “Five star” quality wines, wonderful food in a casual fun environment.Dress for the weather... we hold “Tapas” in the undercover, winemaking area. The area is fairly wind proof, protected by an amazing wine barrel wall. Surrounded byall the “tools of the trade” including the press and picking bins for grapes. We encouraging our guests to stand for freedom of movement andmingle with one another. Bench seating is also provided to encourage our shareand join in atmosphere. In the winter we have outdoor wood burning heatersand in the summer you can enjoy standing at a barrel with large umbrellasfor added sun protection. We do have indoor space that we can utilisebut have found most people prefer to be out under the skillion roofof the wine making area. You can also be assured that the wines are great - as we have 7 wines awardedmore than 90 points by James Halliday this year, so it's hard to pick a bad one!In fact some of our wine this year has been in the highest scores everto be awarded by Halliday in the history of the Australian Wine Companion, and the food is fabulous, prepared by a professional and matchedto the wine to enhance your enjoyment of it.Held on the 3rd Sunday of the MonthTo book your place, ring the winery.
