Ballarat Food Celebrates Taste of the Region 10 April 2015
Ballarat, April 2, 2015: The Taste Ballarat Produce
Dinner to be held at the Lydiard Wine Bar April 10 will herald the opening
event for Weekly Times Rural Lifestyle Expo 2015. The dinner is a premier event
on the Ballarat culinary calendar.
A team of local chefs have chosen hero
ingredients from the producers exhibiting at the Taste Ballarat Food Pavilion
at the Rural Lifestyle Expo complimented by a bounty of produce from local
backyards and gardens. This is a first in regional Victoria, the event will be
supported by the Australian Food Sovereignty Alliance who will be screening
their documentary Fair Food at the Expo on April 11.

Sovereignty Alliance, Dr Nick Rose said at the premier screening of the much
anticipated documentary Fair Food, “Australia’s food system
is more than just broken, it’s killing us”. Dr Nick Rose is traveling around Australia sharing the insight he
has gained on how the rest of the world are tackling the issues of food
security and how we can make simple changes, such as embracing urban
agriculture and utilising our region’s produce and farmers markets. This documentary features producers,
businesses and communities that are aware our food system needs help.
The Taste Ballarat Food Pavilion, a local food
Expo within the Rural Lifestyle Expo will include local producers talking about
the food in our region with demonstrations, competitions and the winners of the
Paddock to Plate awards.
Ballarat Food, the local community network is
thrilled to be bringing together such a diverse range of groups all involved in
raising awareness of the food in our region. It will be an exciting time for
everybody interested in the food we eat and the role we play in the food
